Driving efficiency and value in an integrated care landscape
The new integrated care landscape ushers in changes for most healthcare professionals, but the impact for pharmacy is particularly marked. ISC/ICB Chief Pharmacists are now looking after medicines across primary and secondary care, and working with community pharmacy and in care settings.
Pharmacy teams are also taking on more specialised commissioning responsibilities, trying to tackling waste/recycling/sustainability, having to handle shortages and supply chain problems, leading on digitisation and e-prescribing, and addressing prescribing and population health management in the context of reducing health inequalities.
This forum will showcase how integrated care systems might improve the use and management of medicines to advance the triple aims of improving health outcomes and the quality of care, while also ensuring value and savings.
With ICSs taking over strategic resource planning responsibilities from CCGs and responsibility for collaboration between and the integration of health and care services, this forum considers how the systemisation of the NHS can be used to galvanise medicines optimisation, improving both health outcomes and financial sustainability.
We will also be sharing best practice, especially in areas like sustainable pharmacy, workforce innovation, governance, leadership, and specialised commissioning.
